“My family was to “Bonanza” and “The Royal Fork” as Norm was to “Cheers”.”

This is a comment that was recently posted by my friend, Nicki, on her own blog. The post was in reference to all-you-can-eat buffetts and particularly their significance to our more formative years back in Sioux Falls, S.D.  It made me laugh out loud, and I was immediately transported back to the image of red jello running into creamed corn in a way that will forever signal memories of “Happy Easter!” and “Happy Confirmation!” and “Happy Graduation!”

In my opinion, all-you-can-eat buffetts are totally underrated. Sometimes you just need a good third helping of mashed potatoes and pizza, you know? It seems Nicki would concur.

P.S. Not only does Nicki write really funny things about buffetts, she also makes beautiful jewelry. Check it out here.
